Simple Living Made Easy

Sustainability is a buzzword that many industries and segments of American society today covers. You see it used in the construction trades – both industrial and residential projects – and the personalities of public life try to launch “green” initiatives. Where durability is preached, the environmentally friendly lifestyle depends on a clear commitment by the end user, but – the simple life. Without simplifying our lives, will never gain a foothold sustainable practices.

In practice, however, life is just easier said than done. America is by consumption, which urges people to buy products at every turn, uses, and requires companies to produce more and more support for the binge.

Proponents of the simple life recently noticed some good news: Since the recent recession, Americans have reached a turning point and made a big turn, save more in their bank accounts. This phenomenon is counter-intuitive in our country that normally during an economic downturn, consumers usually build their credit lines, and dip into the savings. In 2006, for every $ 100 Americans over the age of 35 years, bought it spent $ 117. In the first half of 2009 for the first time in years, they were saving about $ 5 for every $ 100.

Spending less corresponds to fewer products that are produced, which has a domino effect: production using less raw materials, products, and to make fewer trucks on the roads means fewer emissions. Although usually not good for the economy in terms of Gross Domestic Product of America, the good news for the environment.

With a view to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing or eliminating the daily commute to go through the election cycle or use public transportation is a popular simple living strategy. Of course, this is not for those who are too far possible from work, carpooling, but never out of fashion. In order to travel outside of your work, walk, bike or take the bus or subway, if possible. For those times when driving is essential to a combination of different messages in one trip, to further simplify your to-do list.

Those who are sold on the simple life model, are usually most things take place directly in front, like the nearby farmer’s market. Food is always fresh, healthier alternative, but the reduction in purchases by the big supermarket also reduced emissions by trucks to the supply chain. This form of support from local farmers and sustainability waves back to a simpler time, local food products and all that was available was. It can be argued that these days, where filled with less stress, both for the individual and the environment!

Simple living and the current downsizing and small-home trend goes hand in hand. In smaller houses, the functionality is king, and the simplicity of the style carries close to a smaller house: the kitchen is never too far from the living room, which are very accessible from the bedroom. With these houses, it’s really all about creating high-quality habitats in terms of sustainability.
